March 19, 2025 Deployment Update
Good morning supporters. We're looking at an enhanced (level 3 of 5) riskfor severe storms on the map today, mainly for Illinois. I would be lying if I said I wasn't a bit confused by their 10% strong tornado risk (10% #) that's placed in the enhanced zone. We'll see if the forecast verifies later on!
With that said, a live stream is planned and we'll have a few Remote Deployment Devices on board just in case. It's possible that our tornado risk could come in two zones with different timing.
Zone 1: Northern Illinois and west toward the Mississippi River. This could be a problem from around 1-3PM, but a bit less confidence here.
Zone 2: The Enhanced Risk Zone highlighted on the map. Expecting storms to develop throughout the risk area after 3-4PM and persisting until dark.
It's noteworthy that as of 9AM central, there is a line of severe and non-severe storms moving thru the area. The weather models did show this earlier, so I would say the forecast is still on track with minimal change due to this ongoing activity.
